Michael Brennan has continued his rapid rise on the PGA Tour, surviving a tense final round in Japan to win the Baycurrent Classic by one shot.
The 24-year-old American closed with a three-under 68 at Yokohama Country Club to finish at 16-under 268, one clear of Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell.
Brennan began Sunday tied for the lead and looked composed until a bogey at the 10th briefly opened the door for the chasing pack.
His response was immediate.
Birdies at the 11th and 12th restored his momentum before Brennan finished with six consecutive pars to secure the third PGA Tour victory of his young career.
“I was very nervous today, especially coming down the stretch,” Brennan said.
His most important save came at the par-three 16th, where he produced an excellent bunker shot to within a foot of the cup.
Bridgeman then had an opportunity to draw level at the 17th but missed a five-foot birdie putt before eventually signing for a 69.
Mitchell had earlier surged into contention with a spectacular five-hole stretch containing three birdies and an eagle, but could not maintain that pace on the back nine. He also finished at 15-under after a 68.
Defending champion Xander Schauffele remained in the hunt until the last, where a double bogey dropped him into a share of fourth at 13-under.
For Brennan, victory in Japan was his second PGA Tour title of 2026 and third in just 33 career starts.
He won the Bank of Utah Championship in 2025 before adding the Wyndham Championship in August and has now collected two victories in his past five PGA Tour appearances.
“Unbelievable. It was an unbelievable week,” Brennan said.
“Japan was spectacular. The fans were amazing this week.”
At only 24, Brennan’s transition from emerging prospect to multiple PGA Tour winner has happened remarkably quickly.
With three trophies already secured and his world ranking continuing to climb, the young American is increasingly establishing himself among the players to watch heading into 2027.
